Senior Research Director, Samsung

Responsibilities

• Lead the Digital Health Research team to develop and advance new and novel digital health products, build proofs-of-concept, demo/prototypes, and design and execute studies and pilots.
• Develop talent, provide inspirational leadership, coaching and mentorship
• Develop advanced, “new to the world” technologies and products.
• Foster a co-innovation model with strong internal collaboration and external partnerships
• Ensure research excellence through impactful products, patents, and scientific publications.
• Ensure a rich product pipeline that advances to commercialization

Requirements & Skills:

• Ph.D. in a technical or health area (e.g. Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biophysics, biological science, or other related areas).  Or, M.D / D.O. or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 14+ years of leadership experience in leading research and development of digital health products and services leveraging wearables, medical devices, and health data.
• A track record of developing innovative products with demonstrated success.
• Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in AI, ML, and Gen AI/ML
• Ability to drive cutting-edge, product-oriented research and development in a hands-on manner.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner, and comfortable working with multi-disciplinary teams and matrixed organizational structures.
• A record of research excellence and productivity (products, patents, publications).
• Previous experience partnering with academic medical centers and health systems is desirable
• Working knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, HIPAA, health privacy, and ethical guidelines.
• Familiarity with health technology, data, and interoperability standards (e.g. FHIR, USCDI, TEFCA, C-CDA)
