Responsibilities:
- Provide render support to artists’ rendering of all shots in a production
- Assist, or maintain file structure generally set out by production/pipeline
- Identify, report, and find solutions to technical rendering and composition errors
- Work closely with all other departments to keep the production on schedule
- Identify potential issues and participate in problem-solving/tool-building activities
- Perform and manage data transfers using industry-standard systems and protocols
- Rename files to conform to company standards
- Coordinate with Production Coordinators to ensure files are correctly placed
- Receive physical media from/to client and partner studios, load contents onto servers
- Take inventory of physical media (CDs, DVDs, hard drives) for sending to clients and partner studios
- Prepare files for delivery to clients (conforming to client delivery specifications)
- LTO archive – manage Presstore library
- Prepare daily shot review sessions
- Run overflow daily shot review sessions
- Provide editorial support; converting footage, updating, and managing the cut
- Check shots match the cut as per production’s requirements, colour, frame range, scan, etc.
- Manage the editorial file system.
Requirements & Skills:
- The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives to maximise team/department performance
- High degree of computer literacy
- Ability to learn new software quickly, and learn on the job if necessary
- Ability to manage and prioritise time and workload
- Ability to record information accurately and produce reports
- Experience in scripting is desirable but not essential
- Must be familiar with the Deadline render farm GUI
- Must be familiar with VNC and Remote Desktop services
- A basic understanding of Maya and Nuke is an advantage
- Familiarity with Linux systems is an advantage
- Experience with FTP, SFTP. Basic understanding of Aspera, Signiant, and other peer-to-peer transfer platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with Tape archive systems is an advantage.
