Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the BI Analyst with the University’s Data Insights Project which seeks to create and develop dashboards from the institution’s data lake.
  • Support the Head of Research & Business Intelligence in creating dashboards that replace existing flat file reports
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate documentation in relation to all of the above
  • Keeping abreast of specialized information systems/software in support of the above; contributing to the development of an integrated ‘business intelligence’ service within the wider department
  • Communicating with colleagues across the global institution in support of the business processes and use of Power BI dashboards
  • Networking with the user community in the University to keep alert to feedback and needs, and with external communities to be alert to current developments and issues
  • Other projects as agreed from time to time, and reporting to the BI Analyst on projects to which the role holder has been assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • The role-holder should have a first degree or equivalent featuring significant relevant numerical and analytical content, with experience of creating dashboards in MS Power BI
  • Excellent IT skills with experience across the MS Office suite and advanced working knowledge of PowerBI (or similar BI and visual analytics platform) and Excel
  • Demonstrable experience of extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data to produce reports and dashboards in support of management activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including data visualisation and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex management information in an accessible way for a diverse audience
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable excellent customer service, with a professional and proactive approach
  • Demonstrable ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment
  • Extensive experience working with a medium level of autonomy and responsibility in a management information / planning role
  • Experience of working in Higher Education in a similar management information/planning environment as outlined above
