Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support database applications for our data systems
- Design, develop, and support Linux shell scripts and Python for batch processing
- Design solutions using Hadoop, Hive, Druid, and Spark technologies
- Maintain and support our Oracle database instance and applications in a high-transaction environment
- Perform routine and customary operational activities to ensure a stable database environment
- Provide production support off hours/weekends, when needed
Requirements & Skills:
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience with database development and database administration (Oracle preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline or its foreign equivalent
- Experience working with large data sets (terabytes)
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with end users
- Experience with query performance tuning
- Experience with Python and Unix Shell scripting required
- Experience with extracting or loading data between RDBMS and Big Data
- Ability and flexibility to provide occasional off-hour/weekend support
