Responsibilities:
Planning
- Plan, recommend and implement capacity, growth and architectural changes for Aecon’s software, network, database and application landscape.
- Participate in some aspects of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
System Improvements
- Lead technical efforts to improve, design, build, and deploy AWS applications, including small, medium and large-scale cloud infrastructure projects, while adhering to company’s security and compliance standards
Testing
- Review test plans and monitors testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk
- May develop system test cases and validates test results during testing
- Analyzes testing results to ensure the solution meets the needs of the business.
- Facilitates issue resolution.
Documentation
- Documents system modifications
- Develops system manuals.
Problem Solving
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
- Business Case
- Proposes input into expenditures based on size, scope, and cost of hardware components
Research/Technical Evaluation
- Participate in the evaluation, selection and application of new and emerging cloud tools and techniques.
- Analyzes technology tends to determine impact on the achievement of business goals
- Identifies issues and makes recommendations based on the impact of new/emerging technology or modifications to existing systems
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent work experience.
- Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant technical and work experience.
- Requires excellent analytical, technical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of business operations, systems requirements, configuration, and IT processes and technologies.
- AWS solutions architect associate or higher certification
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services
- Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)., IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, etc)
- Proficiency in programming languages and scripting tools
- Strong knowledge and experience working with Windows Server/Linux
- Understanding of data storage and database technologies, such as SQL and NoSQL
- Possessing industry-verified cloud engineering certificates
- Solid understanding of the ITIL framework and best practices
