Evaluation process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, institutes continuous improvements to existing manufacturing operations through process automation/semi-automation
Project work scope typically includes equipment selection (design, development), manufacturing installation, start-up, and acceptance (Pilot, Pre-Pro Runs, & EEM)
Develop and trial complex mechanisms involving electromechanical solutions and full integrations
Interface with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to specify and deliver fully integrated process machine systems on time, on budget, and fulfilling the technical scope, and provide site support on RCA and Design reviews
Utilized statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE/TRIZ methodologies to develop equipment, fixtures, and automated solutions to improve manufacturing processes.
Support equipment problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution when it exceeds the Controls team’s capabilities
Participate in Stage Gate (RA, LA, GA)
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Participate in equipment and fixturing solutions related to improving process KPI’s
Propose and implement Kaizen and Safety iKaizen (ergonomic devices and processes) to enable a safe work environment;
Support Global equipment development and deployment projects
Provide electrical, mechanical, controls engineering, and technical expertise in equipment and fixturing solution creation on all automation projects
Internal subject matter expert in the design and development of automated solutions
Leads projects involving design, fabrication, offline integration, testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel, and technology transfer.
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline, Master’s degree a plus
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
5 years required, 2 years desired of experience as an Engineer in Process/Manufacturing, Quality, NPI, or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control and/or Quality Control & Risk Assessment
2 years of experiencia Programming PLC, (AB RS Logix, Control Logix, Siemens S7 and G&L)
3 years of Equipment Development experience
DMAIC Green Belt certified, DMAIC Black Belt certification desired, PQA Green Belt experience a plus
Statistical training with experience applying concepts such as Process Capability and Measurement System Analysis, DOE’s, Linear Regressions, Sample Size Calculation, etc
Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, SPC XL desired, Visual Basic a plus)
Knowledge of Minitab, SPC, or equivalent statistical software is required
Business Financials knowledge
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required
Must be an initiative-taker and coach, able to work in a team environment and motivate others while being capable of working independently in a dynamic, business/manufacturing environment.
Strong Ability to program in ladder logic
Full understanding of electrical design practices, control systems integration, control architectures, PLCs, electro-mechanical drive systems, vision systems, risk assessment, and safety systems
Electrical schematics and prints will be a required capability for projects that support Automation
Well-versed in the rules and regulations relating to implementation and best practices in electrical system design and implementation
