Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence Engagements:

  • Partner with business stakeholders across the organization to identify and understand their data needs.
  • Translate business needs into actionable business insights requirements.
  • Manage a team of AI, Analytics, and Business Intelligence (BI) delivery professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Stay current on the latest BI trends and technologies and evaluate their potential for improving business insights and delivery effectiveness.

Technology and Innovation Focus:

  • Develop and lead the execution of a forward-thinking technology and innovation-driven delivery strategy aligned with overall business goals.
  • Champion a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging creativity and experimentation.

Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management:

  • Create a comprehensive portfolio of planned work to be executed within the delivery team, including ongoing initiatives, planned initiatives, and sustaining projects.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on factors like growth potential, cost reduction, and strategic fit. It ensures projects align with the organization’s overall objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects.
  • Establish a KPI-based framework for measuring and evaluating the performance of initiatives investment.

Business Demand Management:

  • Work with Region/Group Function Stakeholders to validate both planned (budgeted) and unplanned Analytics and AI demand ensuring it is strategically aligned to regional and global business strategies and conforms with the Data, Analytics, and AI technology roadmap.
  • Oversee the delivery of feasibility studies, solution designs, development, testing, and implementation for areas of team responsibility.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of (10) years of experience in a global project delivery and/or portfolio management role.
  • Strong technical understanding of current and emerging technologies across data, analytics, and AI domains.
  • A broad “business process” and “technology” knowledge base and how it applies to Orica’s industry.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, engineering, computer science, or related discipline.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing internal and external technology service providers.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
